Class Information 2026 October - December

These courses are designed for learners who would like to study Japanese in a structured and progressive way. Three levels are available: Complete Beginner, Beginner and Elementary.

Complete Beginner

No prior knowledge of Japanese is required.

Beginner

This class is suitable for learners who have some basic Japanese knowledge and want to build a strong foundation in everyday Japanese.

For learners who can:

read Hiragana
understand and use basic nouns and adjectives
introduce themselves and give basic personal information
talk about simple topics such as family, likes and dislikes
make simple sentences using です / ます
use basic particles such as は, を, に, で
understand simple questions and respond with short sentences

Elementary

This class is suitable for learners who already have a basic foundation in Japanese and want to develop their ability to communicate in everyday situations.

For learners who can:

read Hiragana and Katakana and recognise some basic Kanji
introduce themselves and talk about familiar topics in simple Japanese
talk about past and present experiences, plans and daily activities
use basic verb conjugations, including the present, past, negative, te-form and dictionary form
make sentences using common particles such as は, が, を, に, で, と
understand and use basic adjectives and their past/negative forms

📍 Location: Bendigo City Centre

✨ Elementary (11-week course)

This class is suitable for learners who already have a basic foundation in Japanese and want to develop their ability to communicate in everyday situations.

🕠 Time: 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

💰 Tuition: $495 (4+ students) / $550 (3 students)
Textbook fee is not included.

Who is this course for?

This is an intensive course intended for people who want to learn both Japanese language and culture, and develop essential skills for daily conversation.Complete Beginner class is designed for first-time learners of Japanese.

Do I need to buy a textbook?

Yes, lessons follow a textbook MARUGOTO Katsudoo for communicative language activities and MARUGOTO Rikai Coursebook for communicative language competences.

Is there any homework?

Daily study is essential to improving your language skills. There is homework for review, but it is not an onerous amount.

I may not be able to attend some classes. Are there make-up lessons or lesson recordings available?

Sorry, we do not offer make-up lessons or lesson recordings. However, there is an official online course of the textbook available free of charge, where you can study the textbook content. In addition, lesson notes are distributed after each lesson.
