Japa is a distraction-free digital prayer bead (mala) counter and devotional chanting companion developed by Nihon Softworks. We respect your personal privacy. Japa does not collect, record, track, transmit, or share any personal information, location data, or device usage analytics.
2. Information Collection and Storage
No Personal Information: Japa does not require any user account, sign-in, or registration. We never ask for, collect, or store your name, email address, phone number, or physical location.
100% Local On-Device Storage: All your chanting counts, completed malas, daily prayer streaks, and user settings are stored exclusively on your device's local storage. This data is never transmitted to any external server or cloud service.
No Analytics or Tracking: Japa does not include any third-party tracking libraries, analytics frameworks, or behavioral monitoring tools.
No Advertisements: Japa is completely free of advertisements and does not use advertising identifiers.
3. Device Permissions Explained
Japa requests only the minimal permissions required to deliver authentic prayer and chanting functionality:
Foreground Service (Media Playback): Allows continuous, peaceful mantra chant audio playback during your meditation and prayer sessions, even when your screen is locked or while multitasking. The app does not access your microphone and never records any audio.
Notifications: Used strictly to display standard media playback controls (play, pause, stop) on your lock screen and notification shade while an audio chanting session is active.
Vibration: Used exclusively to provide gentle tactile (haptic) feedback on each chant repetition and upon completing a full 108-bead mala.
4. Children’s Privacy
Japa does not collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
