1.Acne

Acne is a skin condition that generally occur when the hair follicles on your skin get blocked with excess sebum (oil) or dead skin cells. It is one of the most common skin diseases. Acne is commonly referred to as ‘pimples’ or ‘zits’. Most people believe that acne only affects teenagers. Although it is more common among teenagers, it can affect people of any age. According to the National Institute of Health, about 4 out of every 5 people experience acne breakouts between the age of 11 and 30 years.

2.Eczema

Eczema, also known as dermatitis or atopic eczema, is a condition which causes inflammation of the skin, characterised by itching, redness and an outbreak of lesions. Some types of eczema skin disease can also cause blisters. It is a chronic condition and has a tendency to flare-up periodically. It is not a contagious disease; therefore it does not spread from one person to another. According to the National Centre for Biotechnology Information, eczema skin disease affects about 15% of children and 2% - 4% of adults.

3.Psoriasis

Psoriasis disease is an autoimmune condition that causes cells to build-up rapidly on the surface of the skin. The extra skin cells form scales and red patches that are often associated with itching and flaking. Psoriasis symptoms usually occur on the scalp (scalp psoriasis), elbows, knees, lower back and genitals. In some cases, psoriasis can also affect fingernails.

Psoriasis disease is not contagious and in most people, the rash is limited to a few patches of skin. In severe cases, it can cover large areas of the body. The main goal of an effective psoriasis treatment should therefore be to stop the skin cells from growing rapidly and avoid build-up.

4.Vitiligo

Vitiligo is an autoimmune skin problem characterized by white patches on skin, A pigment called melanin produced by melanocytes imparts skin its natural colour. When melanocytes die or are unable to function, it results in the loss of melanin (or loss of skin pigment). This loss of pigment results in milky white patches or vitiligo. It is a chronic skin disorder that can cause extreme emotional stress in people suffering from it. In many cases, vitiligo has also lead to social rejection, trouble in relationships and marriages.

5.Lichen planus

Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects the skin, mouth and genitals. It is characterized by rows or clusters of dark, raised and flat-topped skin lesions. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information,lichen planus is an autoimmune skin disease that affects almost 0.5 to 2% of the world’s population.

6.WartsWarts, also known as verruca, are small, non-cancerous, usually painless growths on the skin. Warts skin disease is caused by a virus called the human papillomavirus. Though skin warts are harmless, they can be quite disfiguring, leading to low self-confidence in patients.
