Yā Karīm, Yā ʿAẓīm, Yā Mannān, Yā Razzāq

🕋 1. The Kaʿbah (the Sacred House itself) – Most Sacred Physical Site

  • The Kaʿbah is the most sacred structure in Islam.

  • It is referred to in the Qur'an as:

"The First House [of worship] appointed for mankind..."
    (Qur’an 3:96)

  • Muslims face it in ṣalāh (prayer), and it is the focal point of Ḥajj and ʿUmrah.

  • Its sacredness surpasses any individual element within it, including the Black Stone.

🪨 2. The Black Stone (al-Ḥajar al-Aswad) – Honored but Not Worshipped

  • The Black Stone is embedded in the corner of the Kaʿbah.

  • It is venerated, but not worshipped.

  • The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ kissed it during ṭawāf, but also said:

"By Allah, I know that you are only a stone and can neither harm nor benefit; had I not seen the Prophet kissing you, I would not have kissed you."
    (Umar ibn al-Khattab – Sahih al-Bukhari)

  • Its respect stems from Prophetic tradition, not from any inherent divine power.

🕌 3. Masjid al-Ḥaram (The Sacred Mosque) – Holiest Mosque

  • It encompasses the Kaʿbah, and is the holiest mosque in Islam.

  • Prayers here are rewarded 100,000 times more than in regular mosques.

  • However, its sanctity is due to housing the Kaʿbah.

📖 Arabic (Surah Āli ʿImrān 3:96)

إِنَّ أَوَّلَ بَيۡتٖ وُضِعَ لِلنَّاسِ لَلَّذِي بِبَكَّةَ مُبَارَكٗا وَهُدٗى لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

📖 English Translation (Saheeh International):

"Indeed, the first House [of worship] established for mankind was that at Bakkah – blessed and a guidance for the worlds."

📝 Explanation:

  • "The first House established..."
Refers to the Kaʿbah, the sacred sanctuary in Makkah (Bakkah) — the very first place on earth dedicated to the worship of Allah.

  • "Bakkah"
A name synonymous with Makkah, often used in ancient texts. The Qur'an uses it here to highlight the city's historical and spiritual depth.

  • "Blessed and a guidance"

    • The Kaʿbah is described as mubārak (blessed) due to its spiritual value and the peace and reward associated with it.

    • It's also a guidance for the worlds (i.e., for all humanity) in both physical orientation (qiblah) and spiritual direction.
