Janine Bergamini is the director of orchestras at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, New York. She directs the Fox Lane Concert, Chamber, and Sinfonia orchestras as well as the Cello Choir and the co-curricular ensembles. She was formerly the director of the Kingston High School orchestra program, during which she founded the Kingston High School Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Bergamini has created a rigorous small-ensemble program in which students perform and compete at festivals on advanced small ensemble works. Her students' success and growth are a source of pride and inspiration in her pursuit of professional growth and development as an educator and musician.

As a PhD student in the Philosophy of Music Education, Mrs. Bergamini is deeply committed to student development, a foundational principle of her teaching philosophy. She presented at the 2025 American String Teachers Association National Conference Research Exchange session on the effects of ensemble studies on adolescent mental health. Her research gives her insights into practical approaches to supporting students and staff in building a program where they feel successful and supported.

Under her direction, the Fox Lane High School Chamber orchestra has been selected to perform at the National Orchestra Festival in February of 2026. Her students have won performance opportunities at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's Regional concerts as well as Nationals Chamber Master Class of 2026. The Fox Lane High School Cello Choir was chosen for the prestigious NYSSMA Conference Concert Hour program in the Winter of 2022, just after its inaugural year.

Mrs. Bergamini's students have been accepted into prestigious All-Nationals, All-Eastern, All-State, Area All-State, and All-County festivals. Her Chamber Orchestras have consistently achieved five consecutive ratings of level six Gold with Distinction at NYSSMA Majors. NAfME’s national publications, such as Teaching Music, have recognized her contributions to the field, further validating her expertise and the value she brings to music education.

She has had the privilege of conducting, adjudicating, and chairing workshops and festivals, including NYSSMA Solo and All-County, further cementing her reputation as a leader in music education. These experiences have reinforced her ability to lead initiatives and ensure exceptional opportunities for students and educators. Her focus on professional development has shaped her approach to cultivating high-quality orchestra programs.

Beyond teaching, she remains active as a violinist and freelancer. Mrs. Bergamini has performed with orchestras such as the Greater Newburgh Symphony, the Northern Dutchess Symphony, the Taconic Opera Company, and the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, enriching her musical experience and bringing a wealth of practical knowledge to her teaching.
