I am an Associate Professor (tenured) at the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology, Technical University of Munich and a Research Associate at the Department of Social Policy and Intervention, University of Oxford - from where I have also obtained my PhD. I am also an Invited Researcher at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL).
My research interest lies primarily in the fields of global health and development economics. Key research themes include gender-based violence, the evaluation of interventions aimed at improving health, empowering women, and alleviating poverty, as well as exploring ethical aspects of health and development research. I use a range of methods in my research, including randomised controlled trials (India, Zambia, Tanzania, and South Africa), lab-in-the-field experiments (India), survey experiments (Europe, India), mixed-methods and qualitative approaches (India, Tanzania, and Zambia), and systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
I have also won an European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant for a research study on "Disentangling and Preventing Economic Violence against Women in India" (ECOVI). More information on my ERC project can be accessed here.
