I am a Professor of Economics and Associate Dean of Arts at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg Canada. I received my PhD in economics from Washington University in St. Louis and am a Fellow of the Global Labor Organization.
I currently serve as Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics, Book Review Editor for the Journal of Economics, Race, and Policy, and previously as President of the Canadian Women Economists Committee.
My research focuses on family migration and proximity, women’s labour force status, economic demography and related labour topics. My work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Urban Economics, Feminist Economics, Journal of Labor Economics, Review of Economics of the Household, Journal of Comparative Economics, and Canadian Public Policy. My research has also been featured in outlets such as The Economist and the New York Times.
Prior to academia I worked as an economist at Finance Canada as well as Statistics Canada.
