I live in Varese, one of the most beautiful Italian cities. It is located 60 km north-west of Milan.

Varese used to be Versailles of Milan. It is full of villas and surrounding gardens, open to visitors. The town hall is located in Palazzo Estense, a Baroque palace built for Francesco d'Este. In front of the palace there are Giardini Estensi, a large city park.

Sacro Monte di Varese, included on the UNESCO World Heritage list, is one of the main tourist attractions of the town.

Villa Recalcati, build in 18th century, used to be a luxury hotel and now is the headquarters of the Province of Varese.

For several decades the heart of Polish national hero, Tadeusz Kościuszko, was kept in the gardens of the villa.

The park around Villa Toeplitz is considered one of the ten most beautiful parks in Italy. The villa is named after its owner, a Polish banker.

Varese is located by the lake - Lago di Varese. Lido di Varese is one of the most popular recreation areas during summer months.
