Hi!

I'm Jan. My research lies in the intersection of urban geography, energy transition, and housing. In particular, the main areas of interest include:

Currently, I am exploring to what extent energy retrofits might reshape the urban socio-spatial structure and investigating the adaptive capacity of Polish and Czech housing cooperatives and their inhabitants to internalise energy transition. I use both qualitative and quantitative methods. I especially like GIS and digging into administrative data.

My works have been published in various urban, energy and housing journals. I strive to make my research socially important, empirically grounded, and politically relevant.

I work as an analyst at the Institute for Structural Research. In the past, I was an evaluation consultant at IMAPP, an academic teacher at the University of Gdansk and a field researcher for the University of Manchester. In 2023, I defended my PhD at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences.
