Since its establishment in 1983,  London Research Office of the Japan Association of Marine Safety has conducted research, analysis and information-gathering activities on maritime affairs, maritime security, and policy developments in Europe, including developments at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a specialised agency of the United Nations. 

JAMS London exchanges information with international organisations and maritime security and maritime-related authorities, primarily in Europe. Through these networks, it conducts research and analysis on key developments in the maritime sector.
