Project Statement

I’ve been wanting to produce something that feels familiar and doable, but still meaningful. For this assignment, I decided to work on a cover of a worship song, nothing too ambitious, just something I know I can finish.

I haven’t locked in the final track yet, but I’m choosing between Wala Kang Katulad, Sa Piling N’yo, or This Is the Day. These are songs I’ve heard many times in church, and they’ve stuck with me not just because of the lyrics, but because of how they were sung.

What makes this project more meaningful is that I’m not doing it alone. The setup is pretty simple: my sisters will handle the vocals (they’ve been singing in church for years), my brother-in-law will record the guitar parts, and I’ll do the rest, arrangement, recording, mixing, etc. This is a chance for me to put my skills and creativity into practice while working with people I’m comfortable with. I’m aiming for a “production-quality” recording, or something clean and listenable.

Project Plan

Since I’m doing a cover, I don’t need to worry about writing lyrics or coming up with a melody from scratch, which honestly takes off a lot of pressure. Most of my time will go into fixing the arrangement, running rehearsals with my sisters, and recording everything properly. Once I lock in the song choice, I’ll help my sisters practice their vocals and work with my brother-in-law on tracking the guitar parts. I’m also planning to add some soft layers in the background, maybe some humming or ambient sounds, just to give the song a bit more emotion without overdoing it. The song itself already has a structure, so my main focus is to make it feel genuine. I want it to sound like something you’d listen to during devotions.
