James is an active singer, state-certified music teacher, church musician, and vocal coach in the mid-Atlantic and New England regions. As a musician, James has sung in concerts with reputable choruses – such as Mars Hill College choir, Westminster Choir College Choir (NJ), Morgan State University Choir, Towson University Choir, Furman University Choir and the Furman Chamber Choir – as a soloist. Notably, he was the soloist in Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem and Messiah. He is also a member and soloist for the Baltimore Choral Arts Society under the artistic direction of Anthony Blake Clark.

James studied voice at Towson University with Dr. Leneida Crawford, majored in secondary education at University of Phoenix, and finished his second Masters Degree in Music (Choral Conducting) at Morgan State University with Dr. Eric Conway. He is the recipient of numerous awards – among them the DeCosta Scholarship, Goldseker Scholarship (both from Morgan State University) Delegates Shawn Tarrant, Barbara Robinson, and Frank Conaway, Jr. Scholarships (Maryland), and Senator Catherine Pugh Scholarship, the Teacher Education Scholarship (University of Phoenix), and a host of other awards and accolades.

Currently, James is the Director of Performing, Visual, and Media Arts at the Perkins Square Baptist Church. He is also the artistic director and founder of Camerata Baltimore. He is the former Director of Music at Camp Dudley YMCA (NY). He is the former Director of Choral Music of the Hun School of Princeton (NJ) and the Hackley School (NY).

Outside of all this formal stuff, James LOVES to cook. James has also taken on a new venture to improve his health - WALKING. He has decided to walk a mile every day. Sometimes two - maybe three. He feels SOOO good after!
