James Jones

Hello! I'm James, I am currently a doctoral researcher at Loughborough University, supervised by Dr. Alan Thompson. I am interested in algebraic geometry and my PhD  project is titled "Tyurin Degenerations of K3 Surfaces". At the moment this means I am investigating somewhat bad, but not terrible, singular loci on quartic surfaces in P^3.

Before this I was an MMath student at the University of Warwick and my dissertation, titled "A full exceptional sequence in D^b((Coh)P^n)", was supervised by Dr. Christian Böhning.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing saxophone and regularly play and perform with Tuxedo Swing and LSU Classical at Loughborough University.

The above photo was taken in February 2023 during the filming of the 53rd season of University Challenge, where I competed for Loughborough University.
