I had an amazing six months as a Community Intern with Boston.com, which is the free little brother website of BostonGlobe.com. I learned the important skills for modern web journalists and what tools are important to a newsroom's success.

Some of the things I learned include:

Pitching, researching, and writing timely and engaging articles, callouts and quizzes.
Formatting articles using images and inserts on WordPress for presentation of a desktop and mobile website experience.
How to write for web publication using AP Style and Brevity to make stories readable in a fast-paced digital and increasingly mobile-focused news landscape.
How to use SEO tools on WordPress and analytical tools like Chartbeat to improve a site's readability and reach.
Writing and choosing images for news stories on social media using SocialFlow.

- Took and edited sports, events and editorial photos.
- Delegated photo duties to photographers when needed.
