The goal for this project was to learn how to optimally animate in 3DS Max, set about using 4 set scenes we had to make around 10 seconds long (25FPS, going by Pal framerate). The only other requirement was to use Cat Rigs for the Weight Lifting and Fight scenes, as they had some more flexibility than the standard skeletons in Max.
Unlike the others, I was provided with this character to lip sync to any 15 second scene of my choosing.
The full sequence had to setup into a video upon completion, which did not have a restriction on what software had to be used.
Majority of the work done in there to build up the animations
Built up the background in the fight scene using Unreal's Primitives, alongside rendering all the sequences through here (except the lip sync, which had to be done in Max)
Complied all the sequences into videos, alongisde the final complimation.
While the Principles of Animation were far from new to me by this point, this had given me the experience to apply them into 3D models. Working with the Skeletal Meshes gave me a better understanding about making movements feel more natural, as the mesh doing the inbetweens for me allowed me to see where certain actions look robotic, compared to 2D where I had to make all those myself.
The Rig also gave a tease as to how working with skin over the body worked and how I had to be careful not to let any parts clip into each other.
