Digital Divide
The digital divide is the gap between people who have reliable access to technology, the internet, and digital skills, and those who do not. This divide can be caused by factors such as income, age, education, geography, or infrastructure. It affects people’s ability to participate fully in modern society—impacting education, employment, communication, and access to essential services.
Emerging Technology
Emerging technology refers to new, rapidly developing innovations that have the potential to significantly change society, industries, and daily life. Examples include artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality, blockchain, autonomous vehicles, and advanced biotechnology. These technologies are often still evolving, not yet widely adopted, and can create both opportunities and challenges as they grow.
By completing the two projects in this unit, I learned how to research technology topics more effectively and present information in clear, organized formats. The global technology project taught me how to compare data across countries, evaluate credible sources, and communicate findings using professional document structure. The emerging technology presentation helped me practice summarizing complex ideas, designing slides that follow the 6x6 rule, and using cloud tools to collaborate and share work. Together, these projects strengthened my digital literacy skills and showed me how to present information in ways that are accurate, visually clear, and easy for others to understand.
