This quarter's project is a look into the history of the earth and the life that lived on it. We are going over the key concepts and ideas of how the earth was made and how it changed over the eons. Also, looking at how these changes made life change on earth. Exploring how the changes of the ecosystems of the earth caused different life forms to evolve over time. Exploring the evidence that helps scientist come up with these ideas. Students will be forming an argumentative paper uses evidence from different labs and reading we will do this quarter and then publish it to their own website. Helping students understanding how to work and be successful in the 21st century with modern technology.

Overview
The Spaghetti Marshmallow Challenge is an activity for beginners in design thinking to practice prototyping in testing. The activity, which is planned to run for 45 minutes but can be trimmed shorter, gives groups of 3-4 students an opportunity to experience what it's like to build together. The facilitator uses debrief questions to draws out lessons on how students work as a team to build together.
You'll find a lesson plan for this challenge to your right that includes timing, materials, instruction and debrief questions. This material is adapted from Tom Wujec's excellent activity.

● 20 pieces of spaghetti
● 1 marshmallow
● 1 yard of string
● 1 yard of tape

Teamwork Exercise Introduction
- 5 minutes
- We are not going to get to go through the entire design process today, but instead, we are going to focus on prototyping and testing
- In your groups of four you are going to be building/prototyping a structure using really basic materials: 20 sticks of spaghetti + one yard of tape + one yard of string + one marshmallow
- 10 minutes
- In groups of four, build the tallest freestanding tower you can in 10 minutes using only these materials
- 5 minutes
- Measure Towers
- From base of tower to the marshmallow.
- Winning groups receives
- 1st gets 50 extra credit points
- 2nd gets 25 extra credit points
- 3rd gets 10 extra credit points
- All teams that finishes gets 5 points of extra credit
- 10 minutes
