JAMAICA SDA SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Jamaica SDA Elementary School is to provide an excellent Christ-centered education that empowers students with wisdom, knowledge and fortitude to reach their potential. With the support of parents, faculty and the local church, we strive to teach our students through precept and example, to develop an awareness of their civic responsibilities and rights in service to God, the community and our country.

Philosophy

The staff of Jamaica SDA Elementary School is dedicated to the preparation of young people for unselfish service to God and their fellow man. The aim of this school is the promotion of physical, mental, spiritual, and social growth.

It is the purpose of the school to provide a climate in which a healthy self-image may be developed. Students are taught to be independent thinkers and to make decisions that are pleasing to God and their fellow man.

We adhere to the philosophy that “true education means more than the pursuit of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being and with the whole period of existence possible to man. It is the harmonious development of the physical, the mental and spiritual powers. It prepares the student for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of the wider service in the world to come.” E.G. White, Education, page 13
