Jake was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for the American West. He turned this into a flourishing career with the US Forest Service, most recently at the Eagle Lake Ranger District. Jake absolutely loved his career, as well as the people he worked with. He served as a Lead READ to oversee all divisions of the US Forest Service and protect and repair all of the forest’s resources during and after forest fires. Jake made many groundbreaking discoveries in his career, including the finding that native populations existed in the area for far longer than what was previously recorded. He was most proud of the preservation work he did on the 2021 Dixie Fire.
Jake is a two-time alumni of CSU Chico with bachelors and masters degrees from the department of Anthropology. He was a graduate teaching assisting during his time there, and taught hundreds of students with his love for the subject.
Jake loved people. He was a very community-oriented person, and served as a board member for his children's elementary school.
