This writing portfolio is made for a Sacramento State University Advanced Composition class. The goal of this portfolio is to exhibit the process and outcomes of three writing projects required for the course, as well as an own interpretation of writing theory. Individuals viewing this portfolio can learn about the student's writing process and see how her writing progressed throughout the semester. A rough draft, two corrected drafts, and a final draft are included in each writing assignment. These drafts are used to track a student's progress in creating their content as a result of their interactions with classmates and professors. The collaborative and communal nature of writing is exemplified by the comments made during each revision process, as seen in each draft.
The portfolio is designed primarily for literary professionals, but it is presented in such a way that it is accessible to anybody; it also allows students to track their own growth and apply what they have learned to their future writing projects.
A home page, an author's note, justification, three individual writing tasks, and finally an assessment on the Theory of Writing comprise the content of this partfolio. The Theory of Writing, the final content component, is possibly the most essential because it defines the student's own interpretation of the writing process, giving the reader insight into how each text was formed. The entire portfolio is organized chronologically, allowing the reader to see how the writer progressed over time.
