Database Management Systems - Presentation @RV College of Engineering
Oct 2010
Oct 2010
In Oct 2010, I received a phone call from my cousin's wife asking if I could give a guest lecture on Database Management Systems at RV College of Engineering, where she worked as a lecturer. I said to myself "What an opportunity!" First of all, to give a guest lecture, then to talk on my favorite topic - Database Management (the other favorite being "Java") and of all, in my alma mater RVCE...I delightfully accepted the offer to give a lecture on 30th Oct 2010 for the second year MCA students.
On the "D" day, I dressed up formally (with suit and tie!) and walked into the MCA block on the campus to be welcomed by the Head of the MCA department and other staff. While I was waiting, I also took the opportunity to meet a few of my engineering lecturers and visit my Instrumentation department. It had undergone a transformation in the years gone by.
The lecture went on very well for over 90 mins and I was finally thanked with a bouquet and a resounding applause by the students. It was an elated feeling to be on the podium and see the students listening in rapt attention on the other side...And most importantly, I lived one of my dreams of lecturing to a large audience!

PS: In the world of rapidly changing technology, the attached presentation would have been rendered obsolete within a few days of this lecture, though!
