My project is to create a sensory room for a special needs school named The Ark in Jaffna, Sri Lanka using an empty room they already have. This will include hiring a contractor to build a ceiling and partition for the room, paint the walls and add a mural to one wall, install sensory equipment such as swings and a rock wall, install a shelf for storage of toys and equipment, and put an interlocking floor mat to protect the kids. We will also be renovating a room to be used as a physical therapy room and we also install physical fitness equipment already in possession of the school. I will be collaborating with the scouts at the Jaffna Hindu College to make this project a reality.
