AI+Multiphysics Lab (2023.09.01~ current ); ASMML( Advanced Structures, Materials, and Mechanisms Laboratory;2020.01.01~2023.09.01 ); ASML(Advanced Structures, and Materials Laboratory~2020.01.01)) in Jeonbuk National University of KOREA is one of the top-level experts in space and national defense industry, who has been currently conducting research in collaboration with No.1 research centers: KARI(Korea aerospace research institute), ADD(Agency for defense development), KCTECH(Korea Institute of Carbon Convergence Technology), KIST(Korea Institute of science and technology), and NRF(national research foundation) and No1. industries:  including KAI(Korea Aerospace Industry), Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha System in a professional manner.

It is because we have already established numerous research and development successes from past projects having extreme technical challenges such as advanced satellites and spacecraft of KOREA (KOMPSAT-3, 5, 3A, 6, 7, Geo-KOMPSAT-2A/2B, Korea Path-finder Lunar Orbiters, Korea Lunar Lander Demonstrator, and CAS500-1).

Furthermore, we had trained many young graduate students and undergraduate students of different levels from Germany(TU Dresden), France(EMSE), KAIST, Postech, Pusan, Pukyung,  and Chungnam National universities to maximize their capability during a short period through intensive and practical training from 2007 to 2016 in KARI before joining Jeonbuk National Univesity.

Our research interests are to

(1) Identify the mechanics and physics of solids and structures with the aid of computational methods as well as experimental methods.

(2) Design and fabricate the various mechanisms for aerospace applications.

(3) Conduct research associated with Industrial Artificial Intelligence recently focusing Physics-informed AI technology

We are pursuing to provide smart solutions to many industrial and practical problems that are quite difficult to be resolved by the industry side only.

Sometimes we even develop our own theories, and computational & experimental methods, too.

All graduate students can learn many professional skills with commercial software (ABAQUS, MSC-NASTRAN, LS-DYNA, Recurdyn, Hypermesh) and Programming Languages (Python, Matlab, FORTRAN, C, and C++), handle experimental devices (Universal test machine, Image-processing technique, Motion Capture) up to the level of experts.

To get more information in detail, please check the list of projects and publications on the other pages

We are always recruiting students who are faithful and self-motivated through an interview.

Once you are confirmed to join ASMML, you will get some support including tuition fees and living expenses.
