The new assembly plant is a testament to Chery’s commitment to the Jaecoo brand, capable of single and double shifts and scalable according to local demand. This facility has been strategically built to support internal combustion engines, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles, with exports to the ASEAN region in mind.

Jaecoo J7: Positioned as the Ultimate Off-Road SUV

Jaecoo is Chery’s upscale off-road-focused brand, akin to Land Rover, and the Jaecoo J7 exemplifies this vision with its boxy, minimalist design. Based on the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, the Jaecoo J7 will be offered in both front- and all-wheel-drive variants, with estimated prices of RM150,000 and RM160,000 respectively.

Both variants of the J7 are powered by the robust 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the Tiggo 7 Pro, delivering 197 PS and 290 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just eight seconds. A seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission is fitted as standard.

The AWD model boasts seven drive modes, including exclusive options like Snow, Mud, Sand, and a general Off-Road setting. The J7 comes packed with features like full-LED headlights, 19-inch “Aurora” two-tone alloy wheels, flush pop-out door handles, and keyless entry with remote engine start.
