StemX

Each intern got their own Stemx kit that had a bunch of different supplies that we would be using in the box. The computer inside is the Raspberry Pi computer which we used to run our code.

Setting Up the Raspberry Pi

This picture was from the first day we opened the Stemx kits. What we did this day was set up the computers run some basic python code. When you lift up the foam there is a lot of things underneath like different wires and radio equipment. Seeing all the different things in there made me excited for what was to come.

Hardware

In this activity, we worked with the hardware within the computer to make blinking lights. The paper on the right is a visual of the GPIO ports that we used to connect the wires from the computer to the light.

Blinking Lights

These are me and my teammate's lights. Once we connected the wires, put in the resistors, and ran the code, they started blinking.

Radio Waves

This was by far my favorite part of the Stemx kit. My teammate and I kind of struggled at first because we werent able to hear the music without static and we started to get frustrated; but once we got it working we were very happy.
