Hailing from the grassy plains of Colorado, Jade Day was destined for a life filled with melody. Born into a family of gigging musicians, music was a matter of fact for him from a young age. Whether singing on the local funeral circuit with his grandmother or awkwardly rocking the middle school talent show with his first band, performing was always a given.
During high school, Jade and his band became regular fixtures at school dances, honing their craft and building their following. His college years saw him traversing various musical projects with ever-changing names, haunting the local college bar scene. After graduating, Jade relocated to the vibrant music scene of Austin, Texas. Here he triumphed in an open mic competition at Mother Egan’s, catapulting him deeper into his pursuit of music.
Over the years, Jade has released several albums, including "In Absence and Abuse" (2003), "The Taste" (2003), "Chimera" (2006), and "Of Waking…" (2007), showcasing his versatility and depth as a songwriter. His residency at some of Austin's seminal venues, notably Momo’s and Ruta Maya, solidified his place in the city's musical landscape.
Jade's journey has taken him across the country, gracing famous establishments and events such as SXSW, Pecan Street Festival, the International Folk Alliance conference, Toronto’s North by Northwest Festival, New Orlean’s Cutting Edge Conference, Seattle’s Rendezvous, LA’s The Mint and Ghengis Cohen, New York’s Rockwood Music Hall, Red Lion, and The Living Room, and many more in between. He has been featured on America's top Triple A radio stations, NPR affiliates, and local television networks, earning accolades and recognition along the way. City of Austin Mayor WIll Wynn proclaimed February 9th, 2005 as "Jade Day" Day.
Throughout his career, Jade has been a part of several bands, including Echo Vine, Spellcaster, and Baron Lyons, each adding a unique chapter to his musical narrative. A prolific songwriter, Jade's music never stands still. Each song represents a meditation on an idea and a fleeting moment in time.
Rarely seen without a guitar at home, Jade is currently rediscovering his passion for writing music and playing for an audience. Whether backing Meshach Jackson on lead guitar, cruising local open mics, serenading intimate house concerts and wineries, or providing a soundtrack of Austin-y covers, Jade is ready to share his love of music with you.
