Our lab is interested in modern organic chemistry to develop innovative methods for synthesizing complex organic molecules, including pharmaceuticals and advanced materials. The primary goal is to develop cutting-edge biocatalytic and photochemical methods to synthesize pharmaceutically and biologically important compounds. Our efforts will focus on developing enantioselective synthetic pathways for the construction of stereochemically demanding chiral centers. By combining chemistry and biology (protein engineering, directed evolution), our laboratory will develop novel biocatalytic methods (new to nature) to address challenges in organic synthesis, particularly asymmetric catalysis. Optimization and advancements in the reaction process will be executed through the utilization of high-throughput experimentation (HTE) methodologies.
