Jacob Garcia

I'm currently a sixth year PhD candidate in the mathematics department at University of California, Riverside. My advisor is Matthew Gentry Durham. I am studying geometric group theory and boundaries of geometric spaces. Specifically I am interested in studying the properties of groups acting on their boundaries at infinity. Prior to coming to Riverside, I received a Master's of Science in Mathematics from Ball State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Davis. While at Ball State I did research in generalized covering space theory under the supervision of Professor Hanspeter Fischer.

During the 2023-2024 academic year, I'll be at Smith College, Massachusetts as an adjunct lecturer for the Mathematical Sciences Department.
