PhD Candidate in History, Johns Hopkins University
Hi! Welcome to my website. I'm Jacob, a historian of the places where ideas, technology, and politics meet in modern Ameircan life. I am currently a PhD candidate in history Johns Hopkins University and the Ambrose Monell Fellow in Technology and Democracy at the Jefferson Schoalrs Foundation.
These days I spend most of my time completing my dissertation, "Securing the System," which explains how hackers reshaped American political economy and liberalism. I am also regularly in D.C., where I bridge various academic and policymaking communities and build civics curricula to help students live well as citizens in the technological society.
