Charcoal, inkjet, ochre, and saltpeter on office paper (36" by 48" and 24" by 36")
These are parcel (cadastral) maps of rangelands in Marin, printed on large sheets of office paper and then drawn over in charcoal with images of the landscapes. Saltpeter and ochre were added to some of the drawings as well. The rangelands depicted were part of compost experiments in the Marin Carbon Project. I used data from those experiments during my PhD work on soil carbon measurement, but didn't visit the land myself until much later. In these works, I wanted to explore how abstractions influence our understanding of the lands they aspire to represent, and how those understandings might affect the reality of the land and the well-being of the humans and non-humans who rely on it.
In 2026, I gave a talk based on these ideas at the American Comparative Literature Conference in Montréal.
Poetry
I write and occasionally read poetry. I published a chapbook called Millenarianism in 2023 and took the graduate poetry workshop at UC Berkeley in 2024. My poetry is situated and relational, and concentrates on the feelings of history, memory, and void.
Music
I compose, produce, and mix electronic music. Some of my tracks and sets are on my soundcloud. I self-released an EP called Elementary in 2025; it's on bandcamp.
