< FOOD >
Diamond puppy food is what we are currently sending home with our puppies. It is pretty easy to find at retail chains. A week's worth of food will be sent home at pickup. We really recommend that you enrich your dog's diet with blueberries, carrots, and antlers. We also have a daily multi-vitamin we absolutely love! Feel free to message Madeline about this for tips :)
*NOTE*--> We recommend you continue on the same food at least until you use what is sent home, please transition foods very slowly to prevent digestive upset!!!
<VITAMIN>
*NOTE!-->We recommend and use daily, NuVet Immune System Builder supplement. This is a requirement in order to validate the health guarantee of our contract.*
Your puppies are raised on this supplement while they are here with us). This vitamin has changed our females coats, and really helps with weaning and pregnancy as they absolutely love the taste and smell of the vitamin!
We have found that very few of our dogs get tear staining under their eyes when eating certain food or from other unknown sources. For the few who get tear staining despite eating a quality food, the Immune System Builder seems to eliminate the tear staining. We are not certain of why this occurs, but suspect this supplement may help with mild seasonal allergies that cause tearing and the associated staining under the eyes. Nuvet is like a daily vitamin.

<The Snuggle Puppy>
Snuggle puppies are great! We love them for our puppies and they are perfect for helping your fur-baby feel right at home. They have a heart beat mechanism and heating pad to make your pup feel comfortable in those first few days away from their siblings. (Click Image below)
<SIZES / Harness / Collar>
Your puppy will be between 4-6 lbs at pickup we recommend an adjustable Nylon harness for this early stage. With most brands, this puts them in the XS (xtra small) category. Also, a lightweight leash 8ft long or greater is recommended. We have also used collars with cat bells in the early days so people know where they are to avoid being stepped on.
< Crate & Playpen >
A crate is an essential piece of equipment! Playpens are optional.
During the course of your dogs life, they may need to be boarded or stay at a vets office (for example; after spay/ neuter surgery). Having your dog familiar with being crated is so beneficial to them. Our dogs look at a crate as their own personal room that is cozy and safe. They always have access to it as an area to retreat and rest. Please try to get a crate with a divider if you are purchasing a larger crate, this will make house training easier for you. Pups will naturally want to potty away from where they sleep. Therefore, if you are getting a bigger crate, it is better to keep the area small with a divider so that they know it is only for sleeping/ resting. As far as a playpen, I strongly recommend those as well. It is great to have a safe place for your puppy to play and interact with the family that is a safe and controlled area. The playpen does not need to be large, but personally I like to be able to put the crate inside the playpen to reinforce that that is a rest/ sleeping area.

*Heads up! Some puppies can be part monkey! If you would like to purchase something a bit taller that is more climb proof we like this one:

< Bedding >
We will send a blanket with mom's/ litter mate's scent with you to take home to help with transitioning your puppy. Having some extra small throw blankets to change out is a great idea. Also putting a peice of your own clothing (an old t shirt) in the crate may also help with the transition.
There is also an additional bed from Kuranda we recommend. Especially if you plan to train the command "place" and want to keep pups from getting on your furniture. Kuranda beds are more like dog hammocks and dogs love them. They take pressure off your dogs joints and are great for place training as well. We like these beds because they are easy to clean and disinfect, keep the dogs cool in the summer, and keep them off the hard, cold tile/ hardwood in the winter. They are also virtually indestructible and made in the USA. If you plan on trainning your pup not to be on your furniture this will be your best friend.

<Grooming>
For grooming, you’ll want at minimum ear cleaner, a nail clipper, shampoo, and a brush and comb.
We like and use this shampoo on all our animals (IT SMELLS AMAZING!) -> Aloe, Oatmeal & Chamomile Itch-Relief Shampoo (Coconut & Aloe) 16 oz. - pawTree . The body spray is also so so nice for a refresh between baths. I LOVE the smell, it is so good!

<Training >
You can check the training tab on our website to see some videos that are very helpful to your first 24 hours with a puppy!
We very strongly recommend you start training for your puppy the day you bring them home. For training online at your own pace we recommend the Baxter & Bella online puppy school. It’s an excellent resource with online classes, videos, podcast, and live help.
The trainer, Amy, has a puppy course that starts with what to do before you take your puppy home, and covers things like introducing your puppy to your kids, crate training, potty training, manners, and lots of other things you won’t get in a puppy class. This course is wonderful to prepare you and your family for your new family member.
