Students can see all of their assignments and resources in Google Classroom.
If students are absent they need to check google classroom to see the work that they need to make up. I private comment to them on the assignment what to do for the make up work. The number of days they are absent is how long they have to make up the work.
I do not accept late work unless they have asked for an extenion. I very freely give 1 day extensions to all who need it and request it, usually by an email or a private comment on the assignment.
I do offer retests for anyone who does poorly on a test. They can retest if all of their work from the unit has been completed. The retests are scheduled a few days after the test at 7:30 AM. The maximum score in a retest is an 80.
About me
I have been teaching since 1996 and have been at Jenkintown School District since 1998. Prior to that I worked as an Environmental Chemist. I have a BS in Chemistry, an MBA in Business Management, and Certification in Secondary Science from Saint Joseph’s University. I also have an MS in Educational Leadership from Arcadia University. I attended a Vo-tech high school and majored in animal science which forever influenced my view of education. Their motto was “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn”, and I believe hands-on education is the only way to truly learn. I am certified in Chemistry, General Science, Physics, Environmental Education, and Principal. My personal interests include science (of course!), tinkering with crafts, love of nature and the outdoors, reading, and animals.
