So for the design work of my project, I basically just went through the different filters and saw what I liked and added to the images. I chose the filters I found to be the most aesthetically pleasing with the original image and added it. When it came to the color editing, I changed it drastically from the original images' color. I did this because I didn't want it to look like the same image by the time I was done with it.
Beach Scene Composition
For This assignment there was a lot of steps involved to figure out how to correctly compose this scene. I did a lot of layer masking to get all the objects in frame as well as even creating the sky seen at the top. I tried to use a nice balance on both sides of the frame so that it didn't come off as too jumbled. I also tried using the clone stamp tool to clean up the scene so it doesn't look cloned or duplicated in the sand.
Birthday Card
So for this project, I just did some layer masking with the text background and the actual image backgorund and tried to blend them in a way that looked seamless and interesting to look at. I made sure that the transition from looking left to right in the image wasn't too jarring and tried to make it look not amateur. I also made the text color a color that was easy to read and popped out.
Maine Coastline
For this project, I used layer masking to make it look like the Maine Coastline was filled with stars. on that layer I also used color to have the coastline look very ethereal and surreal. I also made sure not to overdo it with just one color and balance it out with multiple colors that contrast each other well. I also made sure the star layer was opaque enough so it didn't look like it was taking away from the Maine Coastline image.
Netflix Poster
For this project, there was a lot of moving parts. Similar to my beach project, there was a lot of objects that had to be put on one background. Because of that there was a lot of balance principles when placing the individual objects into the image. I tried to make sure that the color was consistent throughout and that nothing felt out of place in their placement. I tried to make sure things were consistent. I also added transparent clouds to fill up more space in the image so it didn't look too empty. I still kept a decent amount of negative space so it didn't feel too messy either.
Final Poster
For this project I really utilized all of the stuff that was learned and used in the previous projects. I used a lot of layering and messed with effects like drop shadow and opacity to give and/or take away emphasis on certain items in the image. I used rule of thirds on the images of the artist to make it look balanced while still keeping a good amount of negative space. I also used a similar font in my text boxes to the logo of the artist to keep consistency. I also made sure the background contrasted the text and colors of the items in the image while also being an eye-popping background. It also happens to be the cover of one of the artist's albums which worked out well.
