The career that I have decided to pursue is Piloting for either the Navy or the Marines. There have been multiple things that have influenced me to choose this path. One factor that has contributed was racing go karts. When I was about 12 my parents bought me a racing go kart that I would race competitively in Virginia. I believe that the adrenaline rush that I would get from racing could be similar to flying a plane. Another factor that contributed was the new Top Gun Maverick movie that came out in 2022(which I know is just Hollywood). They succeeded in their recruiting mission because it worked on me. 

Since I’m interested in planes and becoming a pilot I figured that I would take as many engineering based classes as I could. Since I know engineering has a good bit of math involved I have taken the hardest math classes I could each year(I am currently in AP Calculus AB) and that is why I wanted to take the Engineering course at the Tech Center. I have learned a good amount of hands-on skills primarily from my Dad. We have made and modified various things like my go kart and some parts on my electric guitars. 

Since I was 5 I have played baseball. I learned from an early age that I have to respect people that have authority. If I ever did something that angered a coach I would most likely have been benched. I have also learned and experienced what it means to be a good leader. When the team's energy is down and nobody is really excited about what they are doing then usually the outcome is negative. On top of the exercise from baseball I improved my mile time over the summer by over a minute. As of right now the only job I have had was umpiring little league baseball games. It has taught me how to not lose control of my emotions even when parents aren’t very friendly. 

Once I achieve my goal in the military I could use the lessons that I have learned and redistribute them to the next generation. I want to be able to serve in the military and protect America.
