Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is a mockumentary created by the musical comedy trio, the Lonely Island. It centers around Conner Friel (Andy Samberg) as he goes through his decline as the musical pop sensation Conner4Real. The movie was created and released in response to biopics about pop musicians like Justin Beiber's Believe and Katy Perry's Part of Me.
The reason I chose Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is because I love the mockumentary style and, even though this movie doesn't make too much commentary on the world except for showing the absolute absurdity Celebrities in the Music Industry, it utilizes the mockumentary style brilliantly to present the audience a caricature on real life that I feel people could make even greater arguments than I could about how this movie comments on reality.
This in turn might make my arguments seem shallow as the movie was created as a satirical comedy to poke fun at the Music Industry, but with the creators being musicians themselves I think we are allowed to look deeper.
