NOTE -- Do NOT go to the Mohegan Arena.
This event is at the hotel and convention center on Highway 315 by the Woodlands.
JA Inspire is much more than a career fair. It brings together the business community and local schools and is designed to help launch students into their future -- postsecondary education, and careers beyond. The program consists of three segments: 1. pre-event career-oriented sessions (curriculum found on this website); 2. the JA Inspire event in April; and 3. a post-event reflection.
At JA Inspire students have the chance to interact with 80+ exhibitors in 11 career clusters in hands-on activities, often using equipment or tools used on a job.
Interested students will be connected with JA Inspire exhibitors after the Experience for possible job shadow, internship and employment opportunities.
Junior Achievement has developed a free, self-paced, online curriculum comprised of an interest assesssment, links to exhibitors, and other preparation materials to help your students get the most from their time at our Career Exploration Experience.
A few things to do before you start:
Educators should review the JA Inspire Curriculum.
Students should complete the pre-program survey. This survey begins the JA Curriculum and should be taken before starting Session One. The link to this survey is found in the JA Inspire Student Materials document.
What to Expect at Inspire:
You will be at the event for a 2-hour time slot when students can meet with 80+ local exhibitors from NEPA businesses, public safety & non-profit organizations, and insitutions of higher education.
Please have students review the exhibitor list and map [will add link when finalized] prior to the event if possible
In addition to the exhibit floor there are break out rooms where they can meet with entrepreneurs, receive career readiness help, and win gift cards by giving their elevator pitch (see details and resources in student materials)
Students will be provided with a drawstring backpack, paper & pens. They do not need to bring anything with them.
Large purses, bags and/or backpacks are prohibited by security.
Event Etiquette: Please remind the students that the companies coming to this event have put a lot of time and effort into their exhibits. We hope all students will be respectful to those working at the booths, volunteers, JA staff, and fellow students/teachers. We want students to have fun and enjoy their time at the event – this is a professional function and a wonderful opportunity for them to represent themselves, their school, and communities well by modeling good behavior and acting courteously and appropriately.
