Taking a moment in my day to day to fully show my gratitude, with my body, heart and soul. I wouldn’t be here today without my mother and my sister’s strength and love. This recipe has been passed down from generation to generation of women on my mother’s side of the family. We call it “Echegaray Sauce” after my mommy’s maiden name. The earliest memories of eating with my family consist of enjoying this meal specifically, and since then my relationship with consumption has changed drastically; I used to eat in the middle of night, in secret, too young to know what binge eating is. This performance is a dance with my appetite, my need for nurture.
