Izabela Szczutkowska is a Polish visual artist based in Co. Cork, Ireland. Working with photography, collage, darkroom-based processes and installation, her practice revolves around the ontological question of photography, often drawing on autobiographical themes such as identity and the concept of home. Being interested in testing the limits of what freedom means in engagement with the apparatuses of photography, her research is primarily led by a continuous inquiry rather than a search for the answers. Alongside her practice, Szczutkowska collaborates closely with the Irish music scene, producing band portraits, music videos, and album artwork.

Szczutkowska holds an MA with ARC (Art + Research Collaboration) from IADT Dún Laoghaire (2022) and a BA (Hons) in Photography from Technological University Dublin (2020), both awarded with first-class honours. She also completed Photographic Studies (2012) and TV & Film Production (2014) at St. John’s Central College, Cork.

Her work was exhibited in the group shows in Ireland including the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin (2025), Lavit Gallery, Cork (2024, 2022), The Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar (2024), Photo Museum Ireland, Dublin (2022), The Lab Gallery, Dublin (2022) and upcoming exhibition at Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin (2026).

A recipient of the Photo Museum Ireland Graduate Award (2020) and the Inspirational Arts Award (2020), the TU Dublin Medal for Best Student and the Student Excellence Award (2020), the Arts Council’s Agility Award (2022). Shortlisted for the RDS Student Award (2022) and Diversity Commission, Dublin City Council (2020). Izabela is a member of The Darkroom at Backwater Artists Group in Cork City since 2018.
