She also integrates the music and circus shows "Retumbantes" and "As Siamesas," the latter alongside Lívia Mattos, with whom she shares the artistic direction.
Henrique Eisenmann
"To what degree can I challenge your perception of melody, of tonality, of pulse? Maybe the joy of art is exactly to focus on these less expected pathways, these new directions filled with surprise and excitement."
Drawing inspiration from different world genres, chants, voices, poems and animal sounds, Henrique Eisenmann is changing the paradigm of contemporary improvisation, creating an original musical universe that is powerfully inventive, authentic and accessible to anyone.
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Eisenmann has always been intrigued with the idea of translating different musical sonorities to the piano. Eisenmann focuses on unique collaborations with artists from all different fields: dancers, poets, and actors. Among his latest releases, the 2017 album "The Free Poetics of Henrique Eisenmann" (Red Piano Records) has drawn unanimous praise from critics across the world. Eisenmann has performed in numerous international jazz festivals and has worked with dozens of outstanding musicians such as Gunther Schuller, Luciana Souza, George Garzone, Matti Caspi and Tom Zé. His doctoral thesis explored the idea of free improvisation as an international phenomenon. Henrique is a faculty member at The Juilliard School (NYC) and the New England Conservatory in Boston.
About the Concert Gold Mirror Emerald
Ouro Espelho Esmeralda, performance by Lívia Nestrovski (voice) and Henrique Eisenmann (piano), extracts its title from the lyrics of Aldir Blanc in Nação (song by João Bosco) and is, in addition to a tribute to the brilliant lyricist, an invitation to get immersed in a lush and contradictory Brazil. Here, the audience is invited to enter a modernist perspective, as the show looks at our anthropophagic cosmology and some of its aesthetic developments, putting side by side the sacred and the profane, the brejeiro and the urban, the festive and the introspection. Carmem Miranda's humor is mixed with the savagery of Hermeto Pascoal, Aldir Blanc's suburban poetics with Jacinto Silva's fun tongue-in-the-tongues, Elomar's sertaneja religiosity and Milton's Catholicism to the brejeira "India," a song that represents the deep Brazil. All of this in arrangements for piano and voice that merge free jazz, contemporary music, and Brazilian popular music (samba, guaraia, xote). The contradictions and wonders of a Brazil that feeds on everything, played by two awarded and internationally recognized artists.
