Terms of Service

Welcome to I Work Upstairs (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, services, and any related content (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

1. Eligibility

Our Services are intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. By using our Services, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into this agreement.

2. Nature of Services

I Work Upstairs provides professional counselling and psychotherapy services designed for high achievers, executives, leaders, and other individuals seeking mental health support.

• Services are offered by our Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

• Our Services are not a substitute for emergency medical care. If you are in crisis or experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. If you are in danger, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If you need immediate emotional support, please reach out to one of the following crisis lines.

3. Confidentiality

Confidentiality is central to our Services. All information shared in counselling sessions is kept strictly confidential, except where disclosure is required by law (e.g., risk of harm to self or others, child protection concerns, court order).

4. Appointments and Cancellations

• Appointments must be scheduled in advance through our booking system or directly with us.

• Cancellations require at least 24 hours’ notice. Missed appointments or late cancellations may result in a full session fee charge.

• We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel sessions in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
  
  

5. Fees and Payment

• Fees for Services are clearly outlined at the time of booking.

• Payment is due at or before the time of service.

• We accept (credit card, e-transfer).

• Counselling services may be covered by extended health benefits. Clients are responsible for confirming coverage with their provider.
  
  

6. Use of Website and Content

• The content provided on our website (including articles, blogs, and resources) is for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical or therapeutic advice.

• You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or exploit our content for commercial purposes without written consent.
  
  

7. Limitation of Liability

By using our Services, you acknowledge and agree that:

• I Work Upstairs and its practitioners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our Services or website.

• While counselling and therapy can be effective, outcomes are not guaranteed. Each client’s progress depends on individual circumstances and engagement in the therapeutic process.

8. Termination of Services

We reserve the right to terminate counselling services or website access at our discretion, including but not limited to:

• Non-compliance with these Terms,

• Inappropriate or abusive conduct, or

• Situations where we determine our Services are no longer suitable for your needs (in which case, referrals will be provided).
  
  

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with the updated effective date. Continued use of our Services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
