The Indian Women and Mathematics (IWM) is a collective of mathematicians established in 2009, with the aim of encouraging more women to pursue higher education and careers in mathematics. Over the years, IWM has worked to create a supportive environment that fosters engagement with contemporary developments in the field and promotes sustained participation of women in mathematical research and academia. To further these objectives, IWM organizes a range of academic activities across the country throughout the year. These initiatives are funded by the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, and are supported by the Committee for Women in Mathematics (CWM) of the International Mathematical Union (IMU).
In association with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali, IWM will organize its Annual Conference during 9–11 July 2026. The conference aims to bring together women students, college and university faculty, and early-career researchers working at the frontiers of mathematics. It provides a platform to exchange mathematical ideas and share professional experiences. A key objective of the conference is to facilitate interactions between junior and senior women mathematicians, both through formal sessions and informal small-group discussions. The program will include invited talks, contributory talks, and poster sessions, with a special emphasis on interaction between junior and senior mathematicians. Advanced Ph.D. students, early-career researchers, and participants from SAARC nations are especially encouraged to apply.
Last date to apply: May 15, 2026 (Friday)
