About Us

Welcome to the Spring Lake Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. We were established in 1989 and are committed to defending our soil, air, woods, water and wildlife. Get to know us!

• We own and are responsible for 6 acres of natural prairie with greatest amount of native plant biodiversity per acre along with a 20 acre lake named Mac Joy Lake.
• Members in good standing are allowed to fish in accordance with chapter rules on our lake as well as camp.
• Each year cub scouts and 4-H club members come out and fish on our lake and the public is invited to come out and enjoy the prairie.
• All are invited to join us at our monthly meeting held the second Monday of each month at 6:30 pm.

The League takes a common-sense approach toward protecting our country's natural heritage and improving outdoor recreation opportunities for all Americans. We invite you to learn about our work and to join us in supporting important conservation initiatives in your community.

The Izaak Walton League is one of the oldest conservation organizations in the United States, formed in 1922 and named to honor Izaak Walton, the 17th Century author of The Compleat Angler, one of the oldest and most famous books on fishing. The League has aggressively defended America's wildlife, changing public policy and supporting legislation to preserve and protect our wildlife, natural resources, wetlands and public land. Chapters of the Izaak Walton League all over the United States work to restore watersheds, reduce air pollution, fight litter, protect wildlife habitats and open space, instill conservation ethics and educate future generations about the importance of preservation and conservation.
