Vincent Dupont-Blackshaw is a photographer and part of the Ryde Art Collective. His last series, 'Joyful Observations of Unfiltered Reality (JOUR)' is about childhood/parenthood (see the series here: https://bit.ly/4hIuPoK).
Both documentary and portrait, the images capture day after day of subtle moments of a new, young life. We are all made up of other people's stories. The images may speak to the child you were, or the parent you may have become. Maybe one of these image resonate with you, evoking a memory or a story. Which photo would you pick and why?
Vincent is keen to work with students to turn this series into a collaborative intergenerational art project by

-Exploring potential use of this material (photo and text) in an exhibition, book, etc
Gemma is interested to have a discussion about any potential project for student involvement. Take a look at all the things New Carnival Company offer on the island as an NPO National Portfolio Organisation supported by Arts Council.
Ideas might be, for example:
Capturing projects in "Zines" that appeal to a wide audience
Developing existing projects with new resources that can be publicly disseminated to raise awareness
Additional support during public engagement, workshop design sessions making carnival costumes etc.
Project idea: assessing the impact of carnival clubs and participation in our flagship event the IW Mardi gras on children/ young people. Data / case studies / reporting to promote the offer to other schools and to use in funding applications. Focus on how
the activities help improve wellbeing, confidence, creativity, problem solving and resilience - working in 4 or 5 schools with varying socio economic backgrounds and levels of SEND need, where we will be running after school clubs and delivering workshops.
