In their unrelenting desire to maximize profit, factory farm slaughterhouses want the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to allow them to speed up the killing line. This is cruel, dangerous, and downright irresponsible. There are currently maximum speed limitations, allowing 1,100 pigs to be killed per hour, but now the USDA wants to allow slaughter houses to go faster and dictate their own line speeds. Faster slaughter speeds will mean even more terror and suffering for animals and more dangerous working conditions.
