I'm Mr. Jackson and this is my website. If you made it here, it probably means you have me as an English teacher this year. Good for you. I'll be using this site to keep you updated on what we're covering in each of my different sections.
Join me as we explore the Big Ideas in English 10. We'll read stories that ask the important, moral questions in life. We'll talk about ethics and research topics that matter to you. This is a spoiler free zone, so I can't get into too many details about what we're reading, but I can say this: You'll be up all Night thinking about this book, and maybe answering "The Cry of the Hunters" by the end of this one.......also we're reading Macbeth. So, if you're a sophomore and the face pictured above looks slightly familiar (they say the camera removes 10 years), welcome to HS English with Mr. Jackson.
Seniors...I said, SeNiOrSsSs!!! Give it up for the class of <<INSERT CURRENT GRADUATION DATE>>!!
Congratulations...You did it!!!
...is what I'll be saying to you in June after you successfully complete my course. If you are enrolled in a section of senior English with me, Mr. Jackson, then that means you are registered for English 12: Digital Media. I know what you're thinking:
OK, so technically...you're not entirely wrong. Technology is a large component to this class. You'll be dabbling in a few different mediums of digital media: blogging, vlogging, podcasting, building a website to host your digital portfolio, and much, much more! The goal of this course is to give you the tools you need to tell your story, but with a 21st century twist. While this all sounds like fun and games, you'll also be conducting some serious and meaningful work. We'll study the art of satirical expression through memes and how to spot misleading news stories. We'll research powerful social media personalities and debate the relevance of their impact on society.
Oh...we''ll also be reading books and writing papers. After all, it's still HS English with Mr. Jackson.
