2016 Wokshop

The first workshop was held as part of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC)’s in Fustat, Cairo, plans to establish a laboratory dedicated to the study of and research on archaeobotanical remains from Egypt.
In order to get the proposed Archaeobotanical Research Unit (ARU) up and running, stakeholders, including international and local specialists, and employees of the Ministry of Antiquities were invited to a workshop entitled “Egyptian Archaeobotany: Current Views and Future Perspectives” on 11th and 12th of February 2016, under the auspices of H.E. Professor Mamdouh Eldamaty, the Minister of Antiquities.
Over two days, specialists from seven countries and multiple disciplines, including archaeobotany, archaeoentymology, archaeology, botany, microbiology, conservators, in addition to administrations and consultants, discussed the current issues in Egyptian archaeobotany and advised on how the ARU would operate.

2017 Workshop
