The Ivy+ Sustainability Collaborative is a partnership between 30 campus sustainability programs across leading U.S. research institutions. Collaborative members work to advance climate solutions and sustainable practices through best practice sharing, forecasting emerging trends, and collective impact data-reporting to advance sustainability efforts. The Collaborative's work helps inform member institutions' strategic priorities, policies, and decision-making on a variety of topics related to climate and sustainability.
The Ivy+ Sustainability Collaborative develops sustainable practices and climate solutions on our campuses and beyond through a variety of ways including:
Employs a robust committee approach with topical working groups to forecast and act upon emerging trends in higher education sustainability.
Leverages the unique experiences and knowledge of member schools to share knowledge and skills on a wide variety of topics.
Reports on the Collaborative's progress through the benchmarking of data between member schools.
The Ivy+ Sustainability Collaborative utilizes a topical working group structure to work towards meeting the Collaborative's strategic goals and priorities. Below are the current focus areas of each working group:
Bridge Building Working Group: Strategizing pathways to collaborate on aligned interests with other organizations including higher education and non-profit organizations, sharing collective knowledge with external entities
Data Working Group: Developing data gathering and reporting frameworks for a variety of topics including greenhouse gas emissions and energy use, maintaining data sharing expectations for Ivy+
Leadership Guidance and Advocacy Working Group: Acting as liaison between the Ivy+ Sustainability Collaborative and member schools' leadership to develop guidance on a variety of climate and sustainability topics, including utility master planning, greenhouse gas reduction opportunities, and scope 3 emissions.
Offsets Working Group: Developing best practices for offsets evaluation and procurement, sharing best practices and knowledge on carbon offsets, considering ways to collaborate on future offsets project purchases/development
