Welcome to IV Training!
This course is offered by Rocky Mountain Education. This is NOT an accredited course. It is a Basic IV Placement Skill Completion Course. Our Proprietary School is registered through the Idaho State Board of Education. This training and these classes will occur over 2 days (approximately 6 hours).
To complete the course and receive your Certification of Completion you must:
1. Attend both classes in their entirety
2. Complete a SUCCESSFUL unassisted IV placement in front of an instructor at the end of the class.
There is no online work, homework, or even a written test.
Prerequisites to take the class:
1. Must be at least 18 years old
2. You must have successfully completed a Phlebotomy Training Class within the past year -OR- prove at least one year of experience drawing blood through employment history verified through either note from your employer and/or time sheets. If you have a situation where you cannot prove phlebotomy experience but want to take the class, please email me directly at rockymountaineducation@gmail.com to see if there is a permissible exception.
Disclaimer:
This is NOT a training on how to run an IV or push fluids or medications. This is an IV placement class meaning we will teach you how to successfully place an IV catheter, tape it down, and flush it with a saline flush. You will NOT be a Certified IV Technician at the end of the class. Any IVs you place and then use for any medical procedure after completion of the course will be under the supervision and liability of the doctor for whom you are employed by, NOT RMDC, Rocky Mountain Education or Express Lab.
IV Training Syllabus
Day One
Review online curriculum and IV Safety
Instructor will demonstrate and teach how to place and IV
Students will spend the rest of class practicing on one another under supervision and guidance of instructors
Day Two
Students will invite friends and family to attend the class and spend the evening practicing IVs.
Students will pass off a successful IV Placement with no assistance from an instructor.
Certificates will be mailed within two weeks of completing the course
