Welcome!
I am a political scientist and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Social Research at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (IIS-UNAM). I earned my Ph.D. in Political Science from the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE).
My research focuses on comparative urban politics and political economy, with a particular emphasis on Latin American cities. My current book project investigates long-term disparities in urban bus service provision, tracing how affordability and quality have evolved over the past century. In parallel, I examine the political and institutional determinants of public transport reforms oriented toward sustainability and climate change mitigation, including decarbonization strategies and the electrification of bus fleets. Additionally, I have conducted research on human mobility and educational policy.
My research received the REPAL Best Graduate Student Paper Award in 2024 and the Afonso Carlos Marques dos Santos Award in 2022.
Currently, I am a Member of the Mexican National System of Researchers (SNII).
I have taught and conducted research internationally, working fluently in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. My career includes visiting researcher positions at several prestigious institutions, such as the KU Leuven Urban Studies Institute / Public Governance Institute (Belgium), the Escuela de Política y Gobierno, Universidad Nacional de San Martín (Argentina), and the Centro de Estudos da Metrópole at the Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil).
From 2021 to 2024, I contributed as an Assistant Editor to the academic journal Política y gobierno.
In addition to my academic work, I have developed applied research experience as an external consultant for governmental and international organizations, including the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and C40 Cities.
Originally from Brazil, I began my academic journey at the University of São Paulo, where I obtained both a Master's degree in Political Science and a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Literature, and Human Sciences (FFLCH).
