I am an Assistant Professor (term-appointed) at the Department of Linguistics, University of Toronto. My research investigates morphosyntactic structure and processing. Specifically, I examine the nature of grammatical properties and phenomena (with a special interest on morphologically rich languages such as Tagalog and Philippine-type languages), and the real-time mechanisms involved in the comprehension and production of sentences, using a variety of experimental methods.
I also maintain an active interest on how these morphosyntactic properties are acquired by children, and are lost due to cognitive decline or damage, such as in aphasia and other language disorders, with the goal of utilizing these linguistic and psycholinguistic findings to inform clinical speech-language pathology practice in these populations.
